Historic Shingle Roof Replacement & Custom Drainage Solution in Jerome, AZ

A historic home in Jerome, AZ needed a full tear-off and shingle roof replacement along with a gutter redesign to solve chronic drainage around a below-grade lower level. Challenge: Preserve a historic home while stopping foundation-level moisture

The property sits on a hillside in Jerome, where wind, driving rain, and steep grades can overwhelm older roofs and gutters. The home’s below-grade lower level was taking water during storms, and the original 3-tab shingles and aging gutters no longer protected the structure.

Solution: A full GAF HDZ system + a purpose-built gutter path to the street

We removed all existing roofing down to the decking on the main house and detached garage and installed a complete GAF Timberline HDZ system. This included synthetic underlayment, starter course, architectural shingles, and matching ridge caps for a durable, high-wind-rated assembly.
To fix drainage at the lower level, we added new 5″ seamless aluminum gutters and routed downspouts to carry water forward toward the street so runoff flows away from the foundation and down the road—a custom path tailored to the lot.
